Thuya wood is found primarily in the coastal town of Essaouira and is exclusive to Morocco. Due to Thuya wood's limited supply Moroccan Decorative and Puzzle Boxes are only made in small quantities. The wood, carved from the root of the Thuya tree has unique markings displaying beautiful burls and a strong aroma or scent.
While Moroccan Decorative Boxes AND Puzzle Boxes are unique and collectible, they can and most do have some imperfections. The wood itself may exhibit knotholes and small cracks in various portions of the box which leads to the charm of the Moroccan puzzle box.
